We are two undergraduate students studying Bioprocessing of new medicines at UCL. In first year we were completely lost – to be honest I didn’t find out what bioprocessing actually was until term 2! Surfing the internet to understand what exactly we were supposed to know wasn’t much help at all because all the material out there is either highly complex or incredibly specific. This led to the creation of this blog – we’ve realised that there must be other students out there, just as confused (or noob) as us! Now that we’ve survived to 3rd year, we kinda know what bioprocessing is, so we’ve decided to construct this blog to help other students who had the same problem as we did in our first year. We plan to go through all the basics of Bioprocessing, such as mass balancing (eep!) and fermentation modes, in small and simple posts. We hope it’ll help you guys understand the topics a bit more clearly, so that you won’t have to go through all the panic we did in our first year 🙂
